I heart Sample Sales

While I would not advise spending $100 on a dress while unemployed… AMAZING sales are one of the perks of a rocky economy. Enjoy!

Dinner for under $10

Need to save cash for happy hour?  For starters, make up for boozie calories by cooking meals at home. If you are eating and drinking while out, your calories are adding up fast. None of this lame crap about not knowing how to cook either. If you can read directions and can turn on the [...]

Sunday Funday: Brunch on a budget

Who loves brunch more than we do? SoUrban.net does. The have put together a list of favorite spots down town, including Esperanto and Flea Market Cafe, which makes some of the lightest and fluffiest eggs I have ever had.

Cheap food that doesn’t make you fat

Because duh, we want to put the F.U. in FUN, not FUPA. Some of the obvious tricks when dining out on a budget include:

Creative naming isn’t always enough to fool the tricky drunk, so say goodbye to “Replacement Parts,” “Retarded [...]

Buying the new Metrocard will be like taking a punch to the face

When I moved here 6 years ago, a monthly Metrocard was only $63, the same price it was back in ‘98 when the unlimited fare was introduced. Now that bad boy is going up to $103! Boo, MTA! You just took away my Netflix budget. That’s cold.

and when COBRA doesn’t cut it…

You may be eligible for Healthy NY.  If you pull in the full $4o5, you are making too much to qualify for Medicaid.
Unfortch, Healthy NY doesn’t cover the following:

Mental health services, including treatment and medication for ADHD, depression, and anxiety
Alcohol and substance abuse treatment
Chiropractic coverage
Hospice care
Ambulance, dental care, vision care, durable medical equipment

Boo HNY!  Gee, that [...]

Help with COBRA costs

As most of you know, one of the most difficult parts of changing employment status is managing the cost of heath care. The good news is some of us can get a break on COBRA. Check out this message on the US DOL website.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provides for premium [...]
