If you run on plastic like the rest of us do, take 5 minutes to plug in your bank and credit card information at Mint.com and they will do the rest. Let’s face it, it’s not easy to keep up with bills when they are spread across multiple websites. Not to mention, you’re less likely to monitor your spending and make slip-ups when you let online banking do all the work for you. Trust me, that one can really burn you.
Mint consolidates all of your personal financial information and reflects your current transactions, credit limits and even gives you notices when your balances are low. You can track spending (great at tax time) as well as your financial “health.” Note, it does not track cash, so you will have to enter this manually. Try to get in the habit of saving receipts, because you’ll want to itemize as much as possible, especially now that most of us barely make an income.
Make this the year to face your finances and break old spending habits.
